I have a Slickcraft 237 day boat with a volvo penta 5.0Ltr inboard and a 290 stern drive. The existing prop needs replacing,can any one suggest the optimum prop size (dia and pitch) THANKS

Welcome to the forum!
For anyone to try and help you they would need to know what dia and pitch you had before, ie if you had for example a 16 by 17 prop and you were unable to attain maximum rpm, or were over revving then 1inch of pitch drops or raises rpm by 200rpm. you have to find out your engines optimum rpm/hp rating and use a tacho to obtain this. You need to reduce pitch to increase rpm, increase pitch to reduce rpm. A little bit more info would be helpfull.

Thanks Dave,thats a start! Off the cuff I think the optimum revs are around 4300, the prop i 16/16, but I feel the engine could do with another gear,it reaches revs too easily.The second question is wheres the best place to buy one? Stu
