Can anyone advise what the internal thread is on the pivot pins for VP 290 outdrives. My bible book (SELOC VP Stern Drives) says 3/8 but doesn't say wheather that is Whit, BSP or other.

I think I'll end up re tapping mine as there is so much Anti foul in the hole. Then its a case of assult and battery with a slide hammer!!

Cheers

In my VP manual everything is metric(but with IMP conversions)

To get them out, turn steering full lock (doesn't matter which way) and knock them inwards with suitable sized bar or an old socket and a hammer. There is enough room to miss the drive bellows.

Hi, make sure when you knock the pins out that you have the replacement plastic washers which the pins slide in thru. as previously suggested turn the drive full lock but you will need a fair bit of effort to drive the pins. One point which may be worth considering is replacing the 3 bellows and the water pipe while you have the whole thing off. Having another pair of hands would be a great help as the drive is very heavy. Drain the oil first save a few lbs.
