I know this has probably been asked a Thousand times but here we go again

Last year I used Trilux spray on Antifoul on my stern drive and I wasn't that impressed. It is a Alfa 1 Gen 2 btw. This year I want to use a brush on system and wondered what people would recommend. I am in the UK on the River Deben where the fouling can get quite bad

Thanks

Dennis

Without knowing your local fouling, just use Trilux a/foul- NOT the spray, which as you found is not very effective.
Trilux does not contain copper so it is safe of the outdrive. Just paint it on with a brush. You can get tins in various sizes.

There are other stern drive antifouls that you can paint on. The best results I have had so far is to use an antifoul and then just before you go back in to the water apply a liberal amount of grease all over .

Not sure if available in your area but I have found the JOTUN Aqualine sterndrive spray the very best. I have now used it for 5 years. You need to apply the vinyl primer first and then 3 coats of the Aqualine (one spray per drive). After 6 months in water there is no barnacles on the drives. It is a very good/ reliable product - at least in the Fjords around Denmark.
