I purchased a new 1000w sterling inverter today and while i did get operating instructions no fitting instructions were with it.
I presume its the same as most in that you just connect to the battery (do i need an inline fuse) and plug in appliance or is it??does anyone have any experiance of these??
 
Inverters are normally internally fused but given the size of the cabling there is potential for a seriously dangerous short so depending on the instalation you might want a fuse at the battery to protect the cable rather than the inverter, especially if the cables have to rout through a bulkhead.

I've got a 2000w inverter and it's got big thick wires from the battery, and a bloody big gold fuse in a grey box. The instructions, (for what they are worth), make it crystal clear that you should fit a bloody big fuse to protect against fire.
