Sterling battery charger

I'm in the final throes of deciding to get a Sterling ProDigital battery charger and making my mind up where to mount it. Can someone tell me if it is OK to turn it thru' 90 degrees and mount it on end, so to speak. It would give me more poss locations to use. I realise it has a built-in fan but wondering if cooling would be compromised in any way. TIA.

I have Sterling stuff and found the company very helpful. Why not phone them and ask. You might have to google for the number, but I think its sterlingpower.com or something like that.

Their we-site here lists their number as +44 1905 453999 ( that's international so change the 44 to a 0 if 'phoning from UK )

I have one and the fans on the charger are very small and the charger gets very hot. In theory mounting it vertically should help the air flow over the cooling fins
I bonded a temperature sensitive switch (couple of £ from CPC) to the heat sink and then wired a small 12V PC fan through that switch, now when the heatsink gets hot the fan kicks in and keeps it much cooler. I have the charger mounted in the bin under the navigators seat and the fan mounted in the bulkead wall. It generally only starts up when the charger is running at over 30A

I have just taken delivery of a 1240CED battery charger. Thanks to whoever suggested Yachtbits in reply to one of my previous posts. They were very helpful on the phone and were able to advise I went up one size due to the size of my battery bank. They still seem to have the best price too.
Before purchase I made up a footprint template based on the dimensions given on the Sterling website, and decided where I would fit it. Took it to the boat today to 'have a play' and it's too big for the designated space. out comes the tape and it's quite a lot bigger than quoted. Bugger!!
FYI, the size quoted is 300x170x60 whereas it's actually 340x190x60 and you need extra space to accomodate the cables exiting the ends. Not the end of the world but info I could have done with at the planning stage. Hope the info may help someone else.
