I have just purchased a new Sony Car DVD Stereo for the boat and now looking to upgrade my speakers.
At present have some PIONEER TS-44 Shelf mounts looking possibly to upgrade to the TS-X150.
What are peoples thoughts I was possibly looking to add a Subwoofer under the Salon Seat but did not really want to do to many cut outs.
What other options do people have

Thanks

I have a Creative 5.1 speaker system with the woofer in the space under the seats and it works great, even though it is off to the side. The under-seat space is neither small nor air tight, though it is more open to the rear (i.e away from the listening space) than at the front.

Yup a small creative 5.1 system with a bass under a seat and 4 small speakers is brill. I play CDs off my computer with a creative card & software.

Not to sure if it will work off a car radio. For my JVC radio onboard I just got a pair of JVC speakers and mounted them in their own box's, so if I want them in the cockpit I just plug them into a couple of speaker wire sockets in the new dash or in the cabin a set of plugs near the radio, it means I can put them away safe from the elements with a silca jell pack & they stay dry & clean. The plugs etc are available from Maplins

By the by just got the latest David Gilmor CD.........if you like pure acoustic guitar just superb. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I have a pair from my old bulkhead speakers, yours for free if they are the right diameter, you can have the speakers too if you want them, they are not brilliant, adequate, but not brilliant.

Do they have to be shelf mounted.

I was considering a subW until I fitted my lovely alpines which give a great sound in the saloon. A woofy outside with the waterproof speakers might be nice, but not something I will ever pursuit. In fact the sound is not all that bad as they are fairly large cones and the lockers give a good backing to them.

Could you not fit bulkhead speakers to the shelves where you currently have the pioneers, though that would point them up to the ceiling. The alpines I have are 3 way so best pointing toward you.

The other way of course is to go for a pair of small home speakers, these could go on their sides for example..
