Steering compass what replacement?

I’ve got a Rigel compass with binnacle model 0/15 on my steering pedestal. It’s very dulled by UV otherwise in working order. Is almost 40 years old.

What should I replace it with? The Plastimo Olympus 135 is cost effective or what about a Ritchie Globemaster they cost a lot (x5) more! Suggestions welcome.

Alternatively, anyone know where I might get the Rigel restored?

You could try cleaning it with toothpaste. Yup, it works, have bought several hard to read ones back to life.

I used this Acrylic Polish 75ml - Get rid of scratches and polish any acrylic surface! on my 38 year old Plastimo Olympus, worked well.

I polished my compasses with Solvol Autosol. They look like new now.

I used it to lap my sea cocks last time I was out. Worked a treat!
