Steering Cable Shetland family 4

Hi.
Can anyone tell me what size of steering cable I need for a Shetland Family 4 . Can't see the serial number on cable as must be behind steering panel. It is going in for repair next week and i would like to have cable before I take it in. Thanks

With this age of boat it’s probably not original so best to check and could vary in any case depending on engine

I recently replaced one in my rib. I couldn’t find the serial number so I measured it with a tape after removing it. I then found the serial number at the engine end. I was advised to replace the whole steering unit as the boat is 22 years old

def replace the behind dash bit too, they both wear, you looked at ultraflex ?

It’s Sod’s law that if a cable is marked and they always are it at the inaccessible end
