Or any other method of bending really .
I have given up trying to find the seal that was used for Cuchilo's winscreen so i want to bend a bit of Iroko over the coach roof and around to the metal brackets holding the top part . It is quite a tight curve around the windscreen .......

What thickness do you think i should take the Iroko down to to make bending easier ?
I was thinking 6mm and then maybe bending another one at 6mm and laminating them together .

Why use iroko? The stuff you're going to buy will be kiln dried and a b*gger to steam. If you stick with iroko just make a plywood box and plug in a wallpaper steamer and laminate thin pieces together. Alternatively consider green oak, piece of cake to steam that and you can bend figure 8's!

Got a very similar job to do myself in August. :)

The rest of the trims on the boat are Iroko so i want it to look the same . Oak will go black over time and not look the same . Plus i have some as stock that has been in the stock shed for a while so i thought id use that .
Ive got oak aswell :D

Plus oak goes black with epoxy

Iroko is fine with a rub down with acetone before epoxying.

If you are going to 6mm laminations, probably won't have to steam, just cold bend, too easy to oversteam skinny laminations, that's when the grain lifts
