A chum has learned recently that there are pot markers - the usual rubbish old plastic bottles - in the middle of the West Cut between Sweare Deep and Hayling bridge.

So right outside Northney marina.

He also learned that these don't always mark pots, sometimes it's a net across the channel to catch fish swept through on the tide !

The HarbourMaster has been informed, I don't know what if any action has been taken, though a bazooka seems too kind for the sort of people who could put these things in such an inconsiderate stupid place.

There is also a line of pot markers running on the bee line off Hayling foreshore from Chichester entrance to the Dolphin passage in the submarine barrier between Southsea and Horse Sand Fort, the line of pots starts nearer the Chichester entrance end.

These ' markers ' are small dark blue plastic detergent / white spirit cans, very hard to see in daylight and impossible to spot at night.

I also noticed the Chichester / Hayling Island pot markers have seemingly shrunk, and now appear to be smaller than ever .... 2 ltr containers.? making them difficult in the day let alone night, would imagine they are impossible to see in a chop.

I came up the Emsworth channel Sunday afternoon & spotted a few very small plastic bottles in the middle of the channel just south of the visitor pontoon. I assumed just someone had dropped some rubbish but on reflection this could easily have been a net. I've seen a net in amongst the moorings before. Watch out.

How long before someone comes on to say that you have know idea and that every pot is actually marked by in isolated danger mark, with Racon and accompanied by at least two guard boats

Just seems crazy to me, surely they should be required to use a specific size/coloured buoy that is lit at night. It seems it's not uncommon to foul your prop on one of these and the ultimate outcome in the worse case scenario is pretty bleak for any crew.
