AWOL seems to be failing in his usual, self appointed, forum role of warning people how horrible it is on the West Coast of Scotland. This needs to be rectified, quickly.

I have never seen so many visiting boats from doon sooth by late May / start June - already massively more than in July / August last (exceptional) year, but probably already similar to early July 2019, and loads of people reporting plans to head up here in next weeks. It’s going to be heaving in a months time !

PS Plenty of fancy burgees, but generally can’t tell if any fancy sails. Do we need a new forum acronym (like AWB, MAB etc) for “Motor boat with mast”?

There can't be that many emigrants from the south yet 'cos I only heard one radio-check call over the last few days. Midges weren't out, the sun shone, the wind was light but mostly adequate - I am at peace. Oh, and Dunedin was shrouded in haar.

The Kyles were mobbed over the weekend. All the Kames hotel moorings taken early, 6 moored in Blackfarland bay and standing room only in Wreck bay and the narrows. Caladh was empty (apart from the moorings), and fortunately for us, no one had found One (but it must be around 5-6) Tree Island - they are a polite lot, plenty of courtesy flags. As for nasty critters, aside from the midges, watch out for Hissing Sid (although probably Hissing Senga) up at Tarbert castle. I have taken several ticks off the dog in the last week!
