when cold the boat fires up first flick of the key , once its been running it does not like to fire up again , usually spins over about 10+ times before it will start again
it has a brand new edelbrock carb and fuel pump with filters
new ignition coil , leads and plugs

its a 5.8 ford Windsor lump , wondering if I need to fit a spacer under the car to stop heat transfer ?
thanks

Heat transfer and autochoke settings were the problems in mine. Especially autochoke. Setting that up correctly was an artform in its own. Not sure if you have autochoke but if you do have a look at the choke setting after the engine has been run to temp but switched off.

Long ago I had a cat that was difficult to start hot, the heat under the bonnet evaporated the fuel. Solution was an electric pump in the boot.
