So me and her in doors living in a flat saving for a deposit on a house, I went to my mates garage for little job on the mg. he had a 17ft Shetland for sale with 60hp mariner on the stern, Take it up the lakes this weekend and try it out , had a great time skiing etc and yes we had to stay in the flat while we started deposit again . Now 9 boats later and the same swbo , happy day’s.

We looked at boats and dreamed of owning one for years until buying the first boat in 2008 (when the kids were almost grownups) and changed that for the present boat in 2014.
Buying a boat is the best thing we ever did.
I too still have the swmbo I started with. Married 38years and counting.

I was born next to the sea.
I learnt to sail when I was 4 years old and had my first boat by the age of 15.
My teens were spent sailing around the Solent after school and at weekends.
The Hamble was a bit different in those days...
By the time I was in my 20 s I had embarked on a career of building boats which gave me huge boating opportunities
I am now retired and have owned many types of boats kept in quite a few locations over the 50 odd years
My swmbo has put up with boats for 45 years but hardly ever comes out on the boat nowadays as she has the grandchildren.
I will continue to enjoy my boating for many years to come with any luck....

Boatin since the 1950s.
SWMBO of 46 summers has no choice but to go boating if she wants to see the kids and grandkids as they are usually onboard with me.
The latest addition to the crew had his first trip out at 3 months......an ash scattering of a relative who worked on the water all his life.

Me being boating since age 7 now 44.
Many boats from 13ft to 17ft but managed to buy a new sea hog samuria, loved that boat .
Then on to a ocqueteau 645 and then a searay sundancer 24 and finally a Merry fisher 805.
SWMBO has given up the fight ,boats first new kitchens and bedrooms second .
Next boat MF925

My first real boat was totally accidental.

I worked for Lombard and ran all sorts including lombard marine finance.

Marine sales went bust and the stock left was reported to me every week.

In the end there were half a dozen left and one was a v cheap galeon speed boat type thing ( 20 ish foot as I recall) and it was in Staines not far away.

Decided it was so cheap let’s have a look. Looked and thought no. The chap the. Said that is one of yours as well pointing to a sporty Cranchi Endurance 33. Giant speedboat basically and pretty impractical.

Wife liked it so we bought it !

Went to La Rochelle and back in it - not bad for a 33 ft boat.

Made a mattress under the table for my daughter. Son came along so the option was putting him in tv e toilet ( but cruel !) of buying a jogger boat!

On your jogger boat did you ever run aground.
