Tonight when out sailing I took three starboard tack transoms whilst on port tack with a clearance of 10mm on each, was I being foolish .. only reason I ask is I distinctly heard the term nutter being used by one of the skippers ..

Re: Port tack transoms

Um your post is titled 'port tack transoms' and then talks about starboard tack transoms. Sorry to be picky but could you clarify. And the answer is probably.

Re: Port tack transoms

Nah, not at all. Cumulative exposure to risk is what matters and your cumulative clearance rating (CCR) for the night is 30mm, generous in the extreme and well within the comfort zone for rudderless sailing.

This, presumably on some other craft than the parked Glen Poseur. Your Laser perchance? In which case 10 mm is more than generous. Ask Ben Ainslie for details.
