Asked for price for other work on mast and have been informed rigging needs replacing , resulting in sharp intake of breath. For comparison, does anyone know of someone who would make up the rigging to my specs.
It is only 6-7 years old but at the terminal ends (swage?) there is some rust and the wire is very dull.
thanks

I had mine done by Hamble Ropes and rigging in Southampton, who we've used for various jobs at work (a) because they are just across the road and (b) they are reasonably priced and helpful. I have also found the next to alladin's cave very helpful. Whatever you do, give them the old rigging and get them to make it up to that length. Don't do as a I did, and measure it. A centimetre short makes a lot of difference! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If you ever need a rigger, you can do no better than Jerry the Rigger in Gosport... First rate... you will find him in yellow pages or PM me for his phone number

Do it yourself. Dead easy to do using Norsman or Staylok. Cheaper than employing a rigger, and you have the satisfaction too.

Did this with my own rigging when i decided it needed renewing, used the Stylok fittings which can be used again with new ferrules....very easy to use and i would recommend using Threadlock just to be on the safe side..

I used insulation tape to wrap the wire before cutting with a fine bladed hacksaw..not the best tool to cut it with but the tape holds it all together and lets the blade cut without slipping

It was a easy job on my boat as i have an Aframe for singlehandedly raising and lowering the mast....which is just as well... as at eighteen stone and no head for heights would have made the job.....interesting..
