Hi all,
the time has come! I have no experience of this whatsoever and wondered if anyone can point me to good resources that will allow me to build knowledge to help me get the right specification and with quality components. Ideally I will work on the spec with a specialist rigging company but this will be done in Northern Spain with the inevitable language barrier, so I want to go into this with some knowledge.

Calypso is a 38’ fractional rigged Moody S38.

Any advice and pointers to resources gratefully received
Thanks
Paul

Recently changed all my standing rigging in Malaysia. I got all from Jimmy Green shipped out to me and plenty of good advice on their website.

I did mine this year through Eurospars on the south coast, all by phone and courier to Scotland. Excellent service, pre and post support and a good price for a SO 342.

Sta Loc fittings mean you can most do of it yourself and have the advantage of making things easy in the future as they can be re-used. Rigging wire should be available in any sailing centre.

Are you taking the mast down? You could do it with the mast up but with roller reefing forestay, you would need help and for that and it is a big advantage to be on dry land. Doing it with mast up you need to be quite fit but you can take things down a couple of pieces at a time, to make the replacements identical in length.

.

I sent one off each wire to Jimmy Green and asked him simply duplicate them, which he did. He sent the new ones back to me together with the old ones in my original packaging. Couldn't have been simpler.

Yes I did the same, only I live close to their depot - left the old wires with them for a few days and then picked up the old and new - great service!

I've used ZSpars in the past, mast was down and it was dead easy to send away the existing rigging and then they sent both it and the new rig back to me.
Only slightly fiddly bit was the swageless (Sta Lok) fitting needed on the forestay, as you can't thread it through the furling foil with a terminal on it.

Thanks for the replies, but I will not be doing this myself, so it was an guide to what types of fittings are best, are there different grades of cable to watch out for etc that I was looking for.
I have looked at the Jimmy Green site as suggested And that is a good start.
Any pointers to other guides would be welcome
