Hello,

Does anyone have a rough idea of what it would cost to replace the standing rigging on a Virgo Voyager? I have just bought one, and although not required immediately, I would like to factor it in to the budget.

Many thanks

Hi

I would expect to pay around 200/275 for the rigging without bottle screws or
around 400 including bottle screws.

Cost vary a lot (and not necessarily related to quality) so shop around. It depends how much of the rigging you replace, just the wires, the bottle screws all the fittings etc.

We paid just over 500 ukp (inc VAT) for a 29 footer (6 and 7 mm wires) with all new Hasslefor rigging screws, pins, toggles etc. That was 3 years ago. My guess for the Voyager would be about 350 - 400 now, a bit less if you opt for cheaper rigging screws.

All this is without fitting as our boat was out of the water with mast off for the winter so you may have to add cost of mast lift etc, maybe another 200 UKP

I found sailspar and TCS good value for money and responsive.

Just had my Seamaster 23' done - £420 including decent bottle screws, should be about the same for a Voyager.

I would really have to question the merits of having your standing rigging replaced and not changing bottle screws and fittings at the same time. There are probably as many failures from bottlescrews, their fittings and whatever fixes the standing rigging 'up top' as there is from wires themselves.

I would echo the comments about S3i - very helpful, and all arrived exactly as promised. Cost me £360 to completely renew the standing rigging on our Venturer (23' - eight wires), including ~40 for swageless fittings for guard rail wires & forestay, and about £70 for a split back-stay. (4mm 1x19 wire, bronze rigging screws).

Accurate to the mm, well put together.

No connection...etc...
