Hi Gents

I have to wire a new SH GX2100E VHS radio to a SH CP300i plotter,I know I need to get some 6 core cable XS54J and 6amp cable XS69A from Maplins for the connection, but before I go is there anything else I need while I am at Maplins? as I do not want to start the job and find I am missing something.

Any connection advice also welcome!

Also I 'think' I am right in saying that I keep the present boats MMSI number and load it into the new system.

Well, you will need something to actually make the connections with. Personally I like solder and heatshrink, but there are plenty of other options.

Yes, you keep the existing MMSI.

When I did mine I used a litte black plastic enclosure/hobby project box and choc block connector strip, also kept a permanant a small wiring diagram inside box for future refence

Yes - I thought SH were being really stingey with the length of the power cable, but apparently it's not allowed to be more than a metre long? Dunno why, as it's not much use if you're trying to fit it at the helm.

I used waterproof trailer 7-core flex and it's been super. All the right colours and thick-ish wire so hardly any current drop.
