Standard horizon ram 3

I’ve a ram 3 from standard horizon which I.s giving trouble.
when I remove the fist Mike off of its bulkhead carrier as soon as and pull is placed on tHe wires it dies.
has anyone else had this problem?
im hoping it’s an easy fix

I had to open mine for other reasons: the cable is kept tied to the plastic housing by a steel U-clamp, the steel is not stainless so if it rusts the tension on the cable might be applied straight to the single wires.
Also, next to the cable entrance are the two tiny wires for the loudspeaker, if the black plastic cable cover moves it may damage them.

Sounds like a broken wire. This usually happens where the cable goes into the unit and flexes. The strands can be touching and then open as it is moved. If you can open it and release the cable grip you may be able to gently pull on each wire and see if one "Stretches" slightly. Depending on the insulation type it may not "Give" very much at all. If you can get to both ends of the cable with a meter you can try continuity of each core in turn, giving each a gentle pull, see if one is going open circuit. Possibly, you may have to cut the cable back and remake the connections.
Edit: Fault most likely at Mic. end but just, just, possible it could be at t'other! Worth bearing in mind.
