Hi,

Just bought a new hand held VHF.

It comes with a base style charger powered by a mains switch mode adapter which is branded by them and labelled 12V dc. The charger base is labelled 12-16V dc input and appears have an active charger/regulator since it gets warm.

The thing is the charger base has a label on it stating that I should only use the adapter provided. Does this mean I can plug it into the boats 12V or not? After all I'm not then using an adapter ;)

I have a 270 with charging cradle CD-26.

label says input 11-16 with output 7.7V so it sounds like a simple regulator. Mine came with a mains and 12 lead.
