After some advice from this forum I purchased a HX270 from JG technologies. Both the radio and JG technologies are excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either.

My query relates to charging. I managed to lose my AC charger although I still have the cradle. So yesterday I bought a 12v AC charger and the appropriate socket for the cradle from Maplin. When I read the instructions I noticed that I need to find out the polarity for the radio before I charge it, as the charger is capable of negative or positive polarity. Does anybody know the answer to this please?

Thanks in advance.

On my HX270 charger, the central conductor of the plug shows 19V positive when open circuit.

Looking at the cradle from the front, the right hand spring connector, that is the connector near the LED, shows plus 16.7V

Note, the base of the cradle is labelled:
INPUT DC 11-16V
OUTPUT DC 7.7V 180mA

The charger is rated at 12V 200ma

Since the handheld continues to work, I assume that the measured voltages drop when under load.
