Does anyone have experience of fitting this radio please .
Question is : Although there is an internal GPS inside the radio is the/an optional external GPS antenna normally actually required to ensure workable reception ,assuming that the unit is mounted adjacent the companionway within an AWB ? i.e. not perversely mounted. This is not explored in the manual.

It does not normally need an external GPS. If it was mounted where a GPS signal wasn't possible, it could be connected to an external NMEA GPS.

Most radios with GPS should work in the location you mentioned.

Thats good - am considering whether the sale of my raymarine 125 would defray the cost - can wait and see .
