I am fitting a standalone setup using the provided Amphenol LTW cable with a 3 pin (male) connector at one end going to the boat/battery and an 8 pin (female) going into the unit. Can anyone tell me which of the 3 pins is Positive and which is Negative please? Alternatively, on the 8 pin (female) end which pin is Positive and which is/are Negative , so I can trace back to the 3 pin by connectivity multimeter test? I realise the instruction manual states the colour codes of the 8 wires but the cable is a sealed unit and there is no way to see which number/colour relates to which pin - 1 & 3 are negative/ground and 2 is positive but which pins are 1,2 and 3 on the 8-pin connector? I am thinking that looking straight on at the 8 female pins, the numbering may be starting with the slot key at 12 o'clock, 1 is 1 o'clock, and following numbers move clockwise consecutively evenly spaced until 7 is at 11 o'clock with 8 at the centre - is this correct and if so is this in fact a standard arrangement for all such 8-pin connectors?
Many thanks in advance for any help.

Regarding viewing the coloured wires to each of the 8 pins inside the unit, one of the screws on the rear panel is burred over and I would/will need to drill it out which I will do if i cannot get the info I am looking for

To anyone interested in the answer, having drilled out the burred screw and removed the back of the unit, I can confirm the original thoughts on the arrangement of the 8 pins are correct and therefore regarding the 3-pin end of the lead , looking straight on to the 3 pins, with the key slot at 12 o'clock, A is at 2 o'clock, B is at 6 o'clock and C is at 10 o'clock, then A is Positive, B is data and C is Negative/Ground
