My old trusty Standard Horizon cp300i chartplotter failed to turn-on yesterday. I have a tablet with navionics and another chartplotter but I like using the cp300. I checked that there is voltage at the end of the plug to the chartplotter and everything seems ok, so the problem is internal. Is there a fuse inside the instrument? any tricks to get it going again, or the time has come to scrap it?

I had a CP 300 on my previous boat. Occasionally it would not switch on and it was always due to a poor connection between the female multi pin connector and the male pins on the back of the set, some careful cleaning and “wiggling” the socket in and out always got it going again. This was fitted under the spray hood so more subject to damp etc, so may not be relevant in your case.

I’ve taken mine apart twice to replace the screen that was cracked (don’t ask why twice), it’s a pretty simple disassembly job so definitely worth taking apart and searching for any loose connections if cleaning the power connections doesn’t help. Mine occasionally turns itself off and reboots, I must check the power supply ?
