I have had my SH 300i plotter now for 3 years and very pleased with it.

However in the last month it has a habit of shutting itself down about every hour and restarting itself and goes back to the previous settings, this is just an irritation, BUT if you have 'go to' switched on it deletes it so you have to re-set it every time it re starts itself.

Has anyone had this experience and what is the problem.

I also get the 'your map needs upgrading' logo now, is this shutdown linked to it??

Can't help with the problem itself - but the service dept at Yaesu UK (SH) is very friendly & helpful if no-one can help here.

There's a standard charge of £32 per unit. I had problems with a SH Handheld (software was confused requiring a reset) and a 300i which wouldn't start up which was bench tested (ended up being an obscure fault at my end :o).

The final bill was £32 inc vat for the 2 items + carriage (£15). Of course you have to get the unit to them in the 1st place.

I had similar problems with my last SH plotter, it was solved by a software update. As everyone else says SH customer service is excellent, get your plotter details and software details off your device and give them a call or look on their website I'm pretty sure it explains how to find plotter and software details.

Are you saying that after you upgraded your map the plotter reverted to normal operation?

Spoke to SH but all they said really is send it back to them, but if a map upgrade solves the problem then I may as well put the money to the upgrade.

It was a software update, not chart update.
