I am trying to get my plotter (Standard Horizon 300i) to operate in home mode not cursor mode. Its as simple as hitting clr. The plotter is supposed to track the vessel which should remain in the centre of the screen. That is not happening and the cursor remains visible, which should not happen. Is there another setting? Any insights?

If shutting down and restarting does not solve it then, from recollection, you can perform a 'factory' setting reset which might be your only way out, but likely to take out your waypoints etc in the process. There have been a few threads on this plotter over the years so before going for the reset option I would do a search (probably via google, specifying ybw as part of the search thread). Standard Horizon in the UK may be able to help although this is a legacy product.

I'm not clear what you are trying to achieve. Is the vessel not staying in the centre of the screen? Are you trying to stop the cursor showing, and if so why?

I think you'll find the SH300i manual online, if you don't have one, but if not send me a PM as I have one (though it may take a little time to find).

P.S.
I've now read the relevant bit in the manual, and I'm not sure mine operates quite as it is described in the manual. As far as I can remember (it's been quite a while, so I may be wrong) the ship icon (the format of which can be changed in a menu, so may not be as shown in the manual) is always wherever the boat is, whether that position is visible on the screen or not. By default the vessel is in the centre of the screen.

I also have the cursor symbol available (IIRC) at the same time as the ship icon. If I scroll the cursor the ship icon stays in the vessel's position. If i continue to scroll the cursor to the edge of the screen and keep pressing in that same direction the chart will slide in that direction until eventually the boat's position, and hence the ship icon, disappears beyond the edge of the screen in the other direction. If at any time I press the clear button then (unless I am already in a menu) the boat's position and its ship icon return to the centre of the screen with (IIRC) the cursor under it.

(y) Spot on. I still use my SH300i, in fact I am also reinstalling my old 180i as a backup.
