Sometime the plotter is quite long to acquire the gps signal. Is the antenna faulty or is there a battery memory inside the plotter which become weak? Thanks

I had a similar problem on an old Garmin unit - replaced the antenna, hey presto back to working brilliantly again ! There was no reason I could see why the antenna had failed but it clearly had.

The Evermore SA320 is often suggested as a suitable active GPS antenna, however eBay certainly isn't the cheapest place to buy (as with many things!). It's only £76 delivered from other places, such as here.

However, why assume that the antenna is faulty if it does eventually provide a reliable fix? Much more likely that there's a memory battery which needs replacing - I think active antennae have batteries in them too.
