So I want and own a Monohull, but its not fast anymore.
So along came the Catamaran, and went very fast, but a bit in trouble with falling over either sideways or indeed forwards.
The we had the Trimaran, which is so fast that it needs to be tracked by satellites just to keep up. Worls record holding too.

My logical thought extension led me to skip the Quadramaran (too obvious), so, my Forum friends, I give you the concept of the Quintramaran, which will look like half a marina sailing in synchronicity up the Solent. How fast must that be , eh? Ha, I have made my fortune on this one. If I can talk Joe V into a commission and ditch the tawdry Mirabella V, we can knock out something that will turn out to be the Marine Concorde of the Blue Riband route. Just on straight maths (bit dodgy here), but if Peyron is hitting 38 knots in a Trimaran, then my Quintramaran will easily top 70 knots. Also it needs a bit of length it seems, cos I had a mate whose boat was only as wide as mine, but longer, and he beat me hollow. I propose 500+ feet, as superyachting is all about hyperbole these days. All this without those keel thingys, as they give no end of trouble to their owners, canting or lifting.
I have patented this wheeze in the past ten minutes, so no plagiarism.
Now, who's first?

Now this sounds to be something really good. I planned to buy a catamaran 2 years ago; made an offer that was accepted- but the family united against me so I cancelled the purchase. BUT, a Quintramaran! That would flummox them all. And I could plan my routes with a BA timetable. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm afraid you've already been outdone. Look at a Solent harbour on a Bank Holiday weekend and you'll see Septamarans and Octamarans rafted up, ready to go. Usually some French bloke on the inside hull, casting the whole lot off at 6.30 in the morning.

Tough mate, its already been done. Its the super lilo, 2 miles long and 100 yards wide. In light winds lift a lot up , reduces wetted area and increases sail area in rough weather vice versa. Some seriously good things going for it:
1) Enables a lot of sleep ... apparently a must
2) Deflate upon makin a land fall, saves a mint on berthing fees

You seem to have missed out the Sexmarans. Was there a reason?

Cat\'s out of the bag

Bugger bugger bugger. I spend half my life working on my noctamaran in secret and you blow away my concept on a whim. It was to have been powered by a single massive Johnson outboard.

I'm sorry Jim, but you're robbin my noct johnson. Back off!

Re: He must be right!!!!

If a cat is quicker then a mono. A Tri is a mono with out riggers. Then a cat with out riggers must be faster QED. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Last time I combined sex and meringues, the missus didn't talk to me for a fortnight.
