Stainless steel rod

Anyone know a website that sells stainless steel rods?

I'm after a rod about 5mm diameter, and maybe 200mm long which I'm going to make into a "stopper" for the helm seat.

I like to sit quite high up, and as I'm not a lightweight the helm seat slowly moves downwards.

I was thinking to drill a few holes through the seat tube and insert the stainless rod so that the seat could not drop any further.

I thought about buying a nice seat for the boat, but quickly put this back on the wish list when I saw the price of a decent adjustable one.

Why not use M6 A4 stainless studding from screwfix?

Before you start drilling holes in the seat tube make sure that there is not a gas strut inside it.

Good advice, I'll check but I'm pretty sure there isn't. The pedestal is pretty basic.
