Apologies for the multiple post (also posted on PBO).

Have asked for a a price for new rails from a local firm. They came to have a look but, having waited around for the customary 4 weeks to get a quote, I have decided that even if they come back to me and offer it for free I won't be using them. Why is it always the same routine?

Can anyone make a recommendation for the Thames area Henley/Maidenhead etc please?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Of no help at all,but you have a sympathetic ear here.
When a few years ago,an island leapt out in front of me without any warning, my pulpit rail developed an interesting modern sculpture appearance.
It took ages to get somebody to even quote for the repair and finally had to virtually camp on the blokes doorstep to get him to plug in his blimming welder.

Stop restricting your search to nearby Thames areas and consider people further afield. A Google search for "bespoke stainless steel pulpits" throws up quite a few such as this one:
http://www.fabtech.co.uk/Marine.php in Portsmouth.

I have had better service from firms in Dorset and Norfolk who have been only too happy to make a visit to the Thames.

There's a guy I used a couple of times who is excellent with stainless. I can't for the life of me remember his name at the moment but he worked out of 4 All Marine on Laleham Reach between Penton and Chertsey locks. Maybe give them a call and see if he's still there. 01932 567744. If you have no luck with them post a note on here and I'll see if I can get contact details.

Edited to add that I'm nowhere near the Thames now and still can't keep away from this forum :)
