Looking to fit a couple of fairleads on the bows near the stem-head to use for visitor mooring buoy ropes (which don't fit through our enclosed bow roller)

Looking for polished stainless steel types to match the existing fittings, which include original cleats which look rather like these ones

Solent Marine sell fairleads like these, but as well as being expensive look to have quite narrow openings for mooring ropes. Will a chunky mooring pick up with plastic tube fit in?

They also sell much simpler and vastly cheaper ones (not clear why such a huge price difference)

Anybody fitted either of these and got views on suitability?
Also any alternative sources of suitable fairleads (must be s/s not alloy)?

The expensive ones don't seem to have an opening for lines that are thicker than 25mm. The "much simpler and vastly cheaper ones" don't have this problem.
I would go for the less expensive ones; after all they are just fairleads and, unlike cleats, will not be subjected to much strain. In any case, they seem to be drilled for thicker bolts than the fancy ones. Just my opinion, of course.

The problem with all off the shelf fair leads is that they do not have a chafe prevention edge like these.

A belated thanks to the folks with suggestions

Have you looked on Ebay ?
Surprisingly the suggestion to look on ebay found things better than a simple Google search - thanks.
For example, not suitable for the bow, but located the fairleads which I noticed are fitted by our boat manufacturer as a new boat option to lead stern anchoring / mooring ropes to the stern cleats. Further searching via Google picture search identified these as an Osculati product, sold in chandlers in France etc but available here via eBay

Not yet found anything with the size and height ideally wanted for a bow visitor mooring (typically a 1 inch plus rope perhaps in larger plastic tube), but these "mooring bollards" could possibly work as either fairleads or additional cleats?

Slight issue is that, as ever, have seemed to have moved from the inexpensive to expensive very quickly ;-)

As Rogershaw says off the shelf fairleads need to be positioned carefully to ensure the deck edges are protected - but not sure I want to go the one off fabrication option

One can buy thin s/s 'protectors' for exactly this purpose from chandlers such as Force 4.... or make them up from thin s/s sheet as I have down ( even cheaper! )
