Pleased to see that the map of the course for the Staines Regatta clearly shows the Navigation Channel and the head and tail warning signs.
The Molesey map is much less helpful to other river users and, apart from stating that they have consent to close the river to other traffic on the Surrey bank side of Platts Eyot and a warning of 2 way traffic on the Middlesex side the positioning of the navigation channel is not so clear.
I would say full marks to Staines for a map which is useful to all river users but Molesey could do better!
In passing, having taken a look at the Molesey entry info, do Eights pay £88 for each race they enter? Is that a typical entry fee for mainstream rowing club regattas? Staines doesn't seem to cater for Eights - just Fours downwards but the entry fee for a Four is £38 (Molesey £44). Are these fees per race or a single payment for the whole regatta?

Fees are payable per boat, so if you race in a four and an eight, each man would essentially pay for his seat in each boat.
£88 is a fairly cheap price for an eight. I've paid up to £15 for a seat, for example at the Head of the River this year.
All events charge fees for entering, most amateur regattas keep to the £88 mark for eights.

Thanks Alex - but is the charge 'per boat' for the whole regatta, no matter how many races the boat enters, or is it per class/event/race?

The charge is per boat; if you enter say a Novice eight, they will pay once, but they race their heats, semi-final and final under their fee.
However if they also enter in a different category or in smaller boats i.e for another event then they must pay again for that event type.
For example recently I raced in a single for £10, and in an eight for £10, but I raced in a heat and a final in the eight so I actually raced three times.

What does "No firm starts or pressure" mean on the course map?...

That's a rowing instruction. It means rowers shouldn't practice their race starts there.
In other words, they don't want rowers doing explosive starts into oncoming traffic or down the navigation lane.
