I put in a new Raymarine system including a Tridata

The instructions state that to calibrate this device the Depth and Speed button must be pressed simultaneously. On my device despite having tried this 20 times it does not work, I get a beep and no calibrate message.

I have logged a call with Raymarine and they say that pressing the 2 buttons simultaneously requires practice and I quote

"Keep trying. You need to press both buttons at exactly the same time. Being a nano second out will result in it not accessing the calibration menus. It takes practice. Even I sometimes have to have a few goes before I can access it"

Anyone had any success or problems with this device, surely two fingers on the same hand is close enough to simultaneous?

It's probably the same as with the other ST60 stuff - it works when you get really steamed up; it's a sort of zen thing.

Had the same problem...did get it 'together ' eventually but it was a pain at the time.
Oh yes, and I also gave it the two finger treatment; didn't make any difference to the system but I felt better.

Are you getting the "beep" around 2 seconds after pressing the buttons? If so, this would seem to indicate that you're getting it right, the cal. screen should appear with that beep IIRC, and its absence suggests a fault. BTW, you can't get the speed calibration screen unless the transducer is connected.

Perhaps a fist across both buttons within 1 nano-sec would invalidate warranty

Yes I get a beep, so I suspect that I need to prove beyond a reasonabledoubt that it is KN ackered.
