I have a ST60 multi unit at the chart table, to monitor ST60 Wind, and Tri data in the cockpit , and when on enviroment i.e. Battery volts, it reads approx 0.84v high in comparison to the battery, with a multi meter.
How accurate are they normally? is there any way of re calibrating it?
Also when engine is running and charging, this unit reads 15.4v but drops back the longer I leave it to 15.2v. I only run the engine in gear for about 1/2 hr just to help top up the solar charge about once a fortnight, but it is a little worrying? should I be worried, or is this normal as I don't want to cook the batteries?
Is there any way to check if the alternator is working properly and shutting down the charge at the right time.
Engine is a Yanmar 2gm 20 with a 35amp alternator, I have no method of checking the alternator output direct only a cheap muti meter at the battery.
