ST50 speed head

However the log still keeps resetting to zero on powering up & instruments downsteam of it are now not working, so I think I need a new speed/log display. Does any one out there have one?

What makes you think its the log/speed display, (apart from the downstream thing)?

I only ask cause I have some intermittent problems with my ST60 instruments.

Have you tried taking it out of the "chain" to prove it is the head?

Because the permanent log reading must be stored on the pcb inside and for some reason it is resetting. The Raymarine site automatic answering service state that a low voltage drop due to a high load such as an engine start might do it, but the resetting occurs just when switching on.. but I am open to suggestions... are your intermittent problems similar?

no but thanks for the suggestion, I will try this w/e. I took the head apart to see if anything was obvious. (the buttons did not always bleep when pressed and had to be pressed hard). Did not see anything, but it was when I reinstalled it that the wind instruments further out in the chain did not work!! grrr

My problems involve "lost fix", even when it says it has 7 satellites and COG and SOG are shown, and accurate. Regular loss of COG and SOG, and subsequent complaining of the Autohelm autopilot, even though it isnt using Route.

I need to set aside some time to identify exactly what the symptoms are, put them on here, and see if there is an obvious solution, before taking everything apart to check connections etc.
