We have a full set of ST50 instruments no problems until last Friday night when the lighting would not stay on for any length of time. All lights are switched on from any instrument, they come back on when asked but only for a short time, varying from a few minutes to an hour or more. Sometimes all go off, occasionally a couple will remain lit, always the instuments themselves are still on and working, just not lit. Does anyone have any experience of this? Raytheon's (USA) call centre helpline came up with their usual solution of take them back to the factory, but we have 8 of them and 4 of these are very difficult to get at to remove.

This sounds like a connection/broken wire problem - try remaking all the twistlock connectors which join the instruments together. I also have these instruments but so far have had no problem. Do you have the handbooks? If not I can look the next time I'm on board.

Thanks, yes I do have the handbooks but they don't help other than to say if the data is not going around the system it is a cabling fault. In this case the data still gets round, but the lights go off. It may be a momentary fault though, enough to turn them off so I will try remaking all the connections in case one is loose.
