Hi
I recently sat on my 4000 tiller arm and broke the red plastic screw thing
and ripped the soldered wires off the motor. The arm is about two years
old and a dark blue in colour.
I had a brand new (black) replacement unit (bought because I thought the
boat had had the previous tiller pilot removed). I fitted the arm and it either
pushed itself out all the way or pulled itself in all the way. In other words it
looks like the new arm is not backwards-compatible? I tried following the
instructions and turned the boat round slowly twice but it still did the same
thing.
Frustratingly, neither arm has a model number painted on it.
Do I need to replace the computer unit (and possibly also the old compass?)
or is there some program tweak I can do to the CPU?
