Does any one have any info on St Osyth Creek.

A fellow member at my club has visited this creek a few times, and says there are nice pontons at bottom of the creek.

Go through Brightlinsea marina, take the first right, and follow creek down.
I draw 2ft 9" min, so i hope to go down there soon, i know it dries out.

Any info boys/girls will be most welcome as always..

The creek is fairly well marked with withies. Best to make your way up on the flood...allow about 2 hours before HW, and look to be away again about 1 hour after. It is a fairly easy passage right through to the head of the creek...face it the sailing barge 'Edme' can get there, so pretty certain that you will!!

Is it pontoon moorings, and are there any pubs and facilities there ?.

IIRC there are jetty and barge moorings there. A couple of pubs within easy walk, and a sight of historical interest, St Osyth Priory only a 10 minute walk from the head of the creek! St Osyth boatyard is a working traditional yard well worth a look around!

Give Andy Harman at the yard a ring; he will be able to tell you about berthing and he used also to produce a little sketch map of the creek which is quite useful. From memory, leave Brightlingsea in the North channel and then cross over by (I think) pin cushion island into the creek.

The creek is well marked and there are no particular surprises on the passage. A long time ago I brought my Twister down it with a local pilot and had no problems. I know Andy once had a huge Watson designed yacht up there which drew something like 7 feet!
