Only just got to read, on this wet and windy day, the St Lucia article (and maybe others have already commented) but anyone going there should be aware that the photos are way out of date. The marina in Rodney Bay has expanded to fill most of the area leaving little space for anchoring (unlike the photo depiction of the area). Likewise Marigot Bay has changed dramatically; a new marina and (expensive) moorings have swallowed up the available space in the lagoon. Outside little space is left for anchoring as a local entrepreneur has sensibly laid numerous moorings (of unknwon reliability) either side of the access channel.
I also believe (but know others will disagree!) that there is a greater security risk/issue in St Lucia than many others places (apart from Venzuela). A visit to the Caribbean Safet and security net website suggests up to 10 times as many incidents have been reported in St Lucia over the last 2 years compared to the next worse - depending on how you work the figures! In short a lot of incidents and a lot of bother in an otherwise very beautiful and attractive island.
If you really want accurate and up to date info, Chris Doyle's Caribbean guides are hard to beat

It was a pretty rough place in 2001. Some of our friends had their boat ransacked in Marigot, others were mugged in Gros Islet and at an ARC party a local pointed out to us a local pickpocket whose trick was to wait till the end then dip those who had had a bit too much to drink. One of my crew was assaulted in the marina by a couple of locals. Since then there has been a rape in the marina area and it has become a crime hotspot. I would certainly avoid St Lucia in future.

OTOH I would take Melodye's security net paranoia with a pinch of salt.
