I brought this subject up a while ago.

Imperial Wharf: Full.

Limehouse: Not taking bookings.

St Kats: Claim to be taking bookings 4 weeks ahead, I'll bet they are already full when you call 31 days beforehand though...

Our lot want to visit during the spring ,intend visiting by car to check out the real situation as opposed to a lot of conjecture.
Still think they should take a CC deposit say £10-15 per boat.If you do not turn up you can claim the money back on your next visit.
If by any chance you never go back ...tough !

Just to set the record straight:

Limehouse. Forget it.

Imperial Wharf. Forget it.

St Kats. I offered to pay in full upfront, with no refund if i didn't show. Answer 'We'll come back to you, but will not accept bookings for this period' I'll take that as a 'No' then....

I would be inclined to forget London, unless South Dock or Galleons is your style.

Fifty Shades wil be heading up-river this year! :)

Pass on by & get some real boating in by going to the Chatham Docks, well worth a trip & need 2 days there + shopping in the krap outlet shops for swmbo

What is going on with all this?

Couldn't get in to st kats last year, TWYC can't get in at Easter this year (long time annual visit for the club, guaranteed 10+ boats income)

Anyone know why this situation has cone about?

St Kat's is well documented on other threads, they simply don't want you.its all about maximising income.
After being refused entry after booking for 6boats in 2005,2of which were underpowered river boats,on a falling tide I have never been back.lime house, after a frantic phone call were kind enough to stay open late to get us in,think this must have been pre 'the South African' I read about on here.
Mosie on past and carry onto queen borough,Chatham, burnham or beyond!
Turn left or right at the bottom,it's lovely, peaceful, friendly, the world is our oyster we have boats!

St Kats let me in the ( extremely full) marina last year.
We squeezed in just under stern of Royal Barge and were very grateful indeed.

having not yet experienced the tidal thames, can anyone shed any light on Chelsea Harbour marina. It seems most people know about St Kat's and Limehouse, but I have never spoken to anyone who has been to Chelsea Marina, or even read about it on here.

Is it a suitable marina for those visiting the tidal thames for a couple of days? what is access like (restricted to certian times), cost, and facilities.

Location wise it seems like a good place to moor?

Think Oldgit has been in there it looks like a bit of faff and not easy for a short stay, Imperial Wharf is right outside and for a small boat on its own is by the far the easiest option anywhere in London.

Chelsea is a very nice quiet compact marina with very little transient traffic. The lock is a bit narrow compared to all other marinas but does not present any real problems.Suprisingly cheap as well.
(Best bogs/shower rooms in known universe)
Main problem is contacting them ....and getting them to let you out when you want to leave.
Nice quiet surroundings but bit sterile.Nearest proper food you can probably afford is the Lots Gastro Pub about 20 mins walk away towards Chelsea High,in Lots Road.
If you want to feel really poor, have a look in some of the bespoke designer shops
( absolutely no hint of prices to be found anywhere ) in the area and try not to get run over by all the Astons/Maseratis/Ferraris/top end mega Range Rovers which infest the area.
Ps.Nearest station is miles away near Chelsea football stadium or failing that get your butler or au-pair to collect you.
PPs.The moorings outside can get very bumpy esp.when a bunch of very inconsiderate large Broom owners need to all race back up to the shelter of Teddington after they have left St Kats.

That seems to be the biggest hurdle, how do you get in!!! I have stayed at Imperial Wharf outside many times but never seen anything going in and out of Chelsea harbour or anyone
that might even let you go in or out.

We use CHelsea Harbour quite often. The approach to the lock is partially masked by their pier and the lock is at an angle to the river. It is safest to try to enter at slack water, otherwise it is easy to get swept sideways and scrape the wall.
