Hi all, going to run down to st kats this weekend, booked in, weather looks good, on way back to w mersea will call in to the medway, best marina to visit? then the crouch, Burnham prob, anybody else around??

I delivered a boat to St Kats on monday this week, a great trip, only downside is the lock there has to be the slowest I have ever been in, it took about an hour and they didnt even answer the radio so had to phone and leave a message.

Don't think the lock is manned outside locking hours, couldn't get anyone on the radio or phone last time we were there, answered about 15 minutes before the first lock.
Must be a candidate for worlds slowest lock, especially as it is only raising or lowering a few feet.

The MDL marina at Chatham would be my choice.Opposite Upnor Castle.
Bray Cruising club visiting Chatham last month.
Just keep going until you see the Castle.

Lot more inviting than Gillingham which looks more like a prison from the river.

You can send your wife off to the very handy
shopping outlet with your credit card while you visit the dockyard next door to see a few old ships, the submarine and the Nelson Microbrewey.
