Hi to all,

as a recent first time yacht owner, I am not familiar with the SSR process, and have spent the last hour on the MCA and .GOV sites, but to no avail.
Can you help.??

The Yacht (a Westerly) is registered on Part1.
In 2 changes of owners, neither the registration or addresses have been updated.
The original owner has now contacted me, but the 5 years has now lapsed (Oct21).

Can I move or re-register from Part1 to Part 3?
If I cant move or re-register, and if I am forced to start a new registration, how do I keep the current #SSR.

Hey, yes you can move from Part one to part three as long as part 1 is expired , you need to go to the SSR registry and start the process, it will be helpful if you have the documents ready ,MMSI number, call sign , boat name
it is any easy process and costs 25 pounds I did the exact same in June when my part 1 finished and I moved over to part 3 very easily (do you have part 1 register with you as this will have all info you need)
good luck

If Part 1 registration has lapsed, then I understand you’d need to start the whole process again, including getting a survey done.
For Part 3 or Small Ships Register (SSR) then you can do the whole thing on line. You mention that you want to retain an SSR number: that must mean that the boat is already on the SSR and is not therefore on the Part 1 register. You can retain the SSR number by completing the on line form and inserting the existing SSR details. That’ll produce a new registration in your name for 5 years.
However if the boat has been in the Part 1 register, you’ll not have an SSR number. Follow the online process and you’ll be allocated a new SSR as part of the process.
Hope that helps.

No need for MMSI or call sign for a SSR registration.

When filling out the forms on the website it makes it easier if you have them ready as said in my last post
I like criticism it is a good think but just for the sake of it makes me chuckle , the website I gave the OP will take him through the whole procedure step by step

Having the MMSI and call sign ready will not make anything any easier, they are not needed for a SSR registration.
