Quoted relevant parts direct of MCA Letter that comes with SSR Document :
You must ensure that your vessel is marked with its registered number (including the prefix "SSR"). This must be painted on, or fixed to the exterior of the hull, deck or superstructure where it can be readily seen.
Each digit of the number should be a minimum of 30mm in height and 20mm in width, except for the number 1, which should be 5mm in width and have a thickness of 5mm with a space of 5mm between each digit.
~~~~~~
Any plate or raised lettering used to display the number must be securely attached to the vessel and should be effectively manitained and renewed where necessary.
It's interesting that often I hear the comment that SSR should be attached to such and such place ie stbd 1/4 etc. - but on the doc it clearly says "where it can be readily seen" ... meaning you can sight it best you consider.
Having seen your boat in pictures and restoration piccies before - I'm sure you will have a beautiful SSR plate or something complimenting a fine boat ....
In addition, when you register the number is printed on the back of the letter you get back, in the required format.
Just give it to your vinyl sign man and he''ll do it in cut out vinyl to stick on.
