I received news that SSL Marine Brighton/Eastbourne are into administration.

I am saddened by the news because everyone working there are professional and helpful. It is the only professional shipwright in Sussex and also the only Volvo Penta dealer in the area.
Unfortunately with marinas charging over the roof rates for a few square meters of water customers must save elsewhere and thus their business must have been squeezed for cash flow.

Allow me to blame it once again over greedy marinas!

Whilst there is no way that I would defend Premier, I don't think that it is fair to blame them. I always try to use and support local businesses. I had a substantial bit of work that SSL could have done but they actually failed to give me the quote before I got someone else to do the work (three months later). From what I have seen, the quality of SSL's work was excellent - unfortunately, the execution wasn't. I feel sorry for those needing work done until someone else comes along (FME???)

A real shame.
I was stuck in Ramsgate over the bank holiday needing a new Yanmar seawater pump. SSL (Eastbourne Office) were not only working on Bank Holiday Saturday (unlike most other possible suppliers), but arranged for the correct pump to be delivered early the following week to a nearby engineer who came and fitted it.
