I have been trying to locate someone who is cruising in the Caribbean. He has SSB but I do not know his call sign. Because I know SSB users must be licensed I tried to find a registry of sv licensees. Unfortunately I have not been able to find an international registry that I can search by e-mail.
Does anyone know if there is a single international registry of SSB users? Are there national registries for the boat or the licensee? Does anyone know how I might find a boat or the skipper when I only have their names?
Thanks,
Adrian B

I wouldnt guarantee that all SSB users are licensed in the Caribbean - probably more likely that a higher percentage are not than are. Some may be licensed as a radio Ham rather than marine radio.

Hello mate, if it's really urgent you could try leaving a message for him on one of the other websites. Noonsite, I think have a facility for leaving messages/requests to contact on their site. It means putting his boats name etc on the site, IF he wouldn't object. Someone looking at Noonsite out there in the Carib: might spot his boat for you and get him to contact you.

I am in the Caribbean, I have yet to find another boat with a SSB licence. Most boats use their VHF call sign, where such a callsign is needed.
SSB is little used except by recreational sailors (who use it a lot) rather than professionals and there are many freqs available; it does not seem to be policed or need to be!
There are several nets here, most people listen at around 0800 on 8104MHZ until 0815 when a safety and security net starts, for call ups from friends etc. One could just call name of the guy - only you and he would know it was not a boat name! Call signs as such rarely used!
Good luck
