SRC online course- recommendations?

Well it's about time I did my VHF certificate. Somehow managed to let that one pass me by and I have been under SWMBO's supervision, technically, for some years now. She seems quite happy with the arrangement of course.

I gather you have to do an online course now, and then sit the exam locally. I also presume you can do the online bit anywhere you like.

Anybody got a recommendation? A very quick google shows prices from £60-£95 although maybe some of those included the exam too.

You don't have to do the online course, its just an extra option. There are plenty of places still doing the traditional course if you prefer that type of learning.

Ah, didn't see that. But he'd still have to get to a training centre to do the exam.

We do have one- Isle of Skye Yachts- who have told me that I should seek an online course elsewhere but can do the exam with them.

I'm busy doing the RYA on-line course and will do the exam in Amsterdam and I must say I have been very impressed with the quality of the course material. Not sure how the exam bit would work there but my girlfriend just did hers online with Marine Education in Ringwood - £59 for the course online and they post you the RYA book - it all seemed very well done and she passed first go with 100% after 10 days study (an hour or so a day) having never touch the VHF before. Staff there were helpful, replied to emails etc promptly - so can recommend then thoroughly...

Sadly the RYA were not so good at actually posting out her license so we had to leave the UK without it ... And they charge £60 on top just to print the license out and post it to you - robbing bar stewards ...
