OK, so this is some way off as we have other priorities at the moment but what would be the best way to spruce up our old boat?
It just looks tatty with the old paint/graphics flaking, what would be the best way to deal with this? is it simply lots of masking tape and spray with car paint in a rattlecan, Hammerite or something else?

Also, the window surrounds need a lick of paint and I think that a light tint on the windows would give it a more modern look.
I'd only attempt to DIY that if I could get the glass out though, is it easily done?
The windows are watertight but the sealant inside is fairly flaky so I imagine they may need resealing or something done to them before too long anyway. Or. is it best to just leave them alone?

Either a one pot conventional or a two pot polyurethane paint from a marine paint specialist such as International, Hempel or Epifanes. Go on their websites and you will find useful information on the choices plus hints on how to apply to get good results.

Owatrol

Lakesailor is spot on, Hammerite gives results cosmetically slightly inferior to old porridge and lasts about as long.

For tarting up paint, faded gelcoat or varnish 'Owatrol' works well, but only for a season or two, then one has to do it properly and strip it all back/ repaint.

Do not use in moist dewey or cold frosty conditions or it will 'bloom' and you're back before square one - yes, found that the hard way !

Good stuff when used within weather limits, just wipes on with a cloth.
