I decided to spruce up my RIB on Saturday but realized all the specialized marine cleaning gear was on the boat.

I used Fairy Power spray.( by Fairy liquid )

Comes in a trigger bottle from any store and costs £3 - £4

Spray on, leave 20 mins and rinse off.

Fantastic results far exceeds any purpose bought product.

Even stubborn Rubber marks came off.

This is not a compound product, it lifts the dirt away and leaves the original shine.

This is a Valiant D 270 , not Hyperlon, I don't know if it would work on Hyperion or not but I do know Fairy liquid rots rubber screen washers.

I first used this last year but the bottle ran out and I had forgotten all about it, it leaves it 'squeaky clean' and shinny.

I have only used a 4 hp.
It planes with myself and my daughter but not with two adults.
It handles really well, my D 270 will take up to 8 HP.
The D series are incredibly light 36 kg ( as light as many slatted floors ) but still maintain very good stability.
With a 9.8 hp you are going to fly, you should be very pleased with the performance.

A friend bought an Avon 2.5 m rib at the same time, his was slightly faster (he weighed 2 stone less than me) but after a year the Valiant had defiantly weathered better, the Avon looked a year old where my Valiant still looks good now.

The only disadvantage with a RIB is you can not fold them away so I am going to change for a Roll away type.

Fairy Power spray is fantastic, not sure what is in it but as it is designed for housewives it must be safe to use, I used it without wearing gloves and I have not had the usual problem of dry hands like you get from some products.

I gave it a good rinse with a hose pipe.

My neighbor put some neat on his Hyperlon jet rib in October and still hasn't got round to rinsing it off, I looked at it last week and it hasn't gone pop so I guess its alright, some manufactures will say their product contains something to make it sound good but may only be a few parts per million.

Didnt realise that till i read all the details.
Not enough room on board for something that doesnt fold away, but was very tempted

I agree with you Doug, RIB s are only any good on large boats, that is why I am going to change it for a fold away.

The other option was to get a bigger boat /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

And what does SWMBO think of that?
Does she have a preference for planing or displacement?
shafts or legs?
crew quarters would be nice too

It was SWMBO that pushed me to get the Princess 360.

I was happy with the Corniche, the RIB fitted on there really well and didn't get in the way as we didn't have a transom door.

When I think back is was SWMBO that pushed me to change the Bayliner, that would be getting a bit old now, perhaps I should have a look around for younger models and it's not the Princess that I should trade in.

SWMBO wants a boat that has a nice cooker, doesn't need dusting or vacuuming, puts it's own fenders out and knows when SWMBO is either too cold or too hot so she doesn't have to work out which b***** button to press.
Oh and it has to cruise smoothly in all conditions at 25 knts with no wind on the flybridge to spoil hairstyles.

LOL

Mine is still new to this
so she thought it great fun when i got soaked every ten minutes going from Languard to Gt Yarmouth in moderate seas last year. i took all the canopies off....well they dont keep much water out anyway
revenge might be sweet
