Should I go for ordinary Fabsil or the the supposedly 'extra-tough' but considerably more expensive Fabsil Gold or the even more expensive 303 High Tech Fabric Guard [recommended by Sunbrella]?

This will be the first time the sprayhood has been treated since new.

I find Fabsil a complete waste of time on this sort of fabric.
This http://www.stormwaterproofing.com/application/waterproof/brush-on-canvas-waterproofer-5l.html sounds more appropriate to me, hopefully something like the old Mesowax. I ordered a can but by mistake they sent me this http://www.stormwaterproofing.com/application/waterproof/brush-on-waterproofer-5l.html (which is a lot dearer).
It was too much hassle to return it so I tried it but it's just like Fabsil and a waste of time on heavy canvas stuff.

We have been using standard Fabsil on our sparayhood, hatch and machinery covers and bimini for many years, seven for the bimini, in Med type climates and have found it excellent. It is recommended by the bimini manufacturer. It has managed to preserve the stitching on our "canvas" due to the UV protecter content, unlike a simple waterproofer. I thoroughly recommend it. Just make sure that the "canvas" is clean when you put it on and be generous. We apply it once per year. No connection..........etc.

We treated our bimini with Ordinary Fabsil and it worked well. However, the coverage rate was far lower than claimed, and I am 'careful' when applying any expensive product. Having failed to obtain any more Fabsil here, I ordered and received NikWax, so that is what we will use on the sprayhood (Tomorrow morning as it happens) The other products mentioned above seem an option but it is the shipping that is the problem for us - anything with silicone or solvents is out.

Cheers,

Michael.
