If it's that red hulled beast I'm very envious!! Is it Spain or Portugal? It rained pretty hard here near Benidorm last Wednesday.
 
Must be Artemisia in Marina d'arechi?

I've never ventured that far, but just loved the Amalfi coast (who wouldn't of course).

But you'll have to share the virtual cigar with scubaman, who spotted also the marina - though I suppose it wasn't difficult, for those who followed Artemisia story.
Apropos, it's been a while since MAFWeiss last post here in the asylum, did anyone hear from him?
I recently spent a few days along that coast, and I took the opportunity to have a look at the marina (which btw is being extended, hence the still empty docks in the pic).
But I was on a rather tight schedule, otherwise I would have sent him a PM to check if by chance he was around...

Btw, yes K, the Amalfi coast is absolutely breathtaking!
It's a shame that I only drove along it at dusk, in bad weather, and without carrying my camera.
S tried to take a few pics with her phone anyway - I'll check if they are worth posting.

Ok, actually I'm not sure they are, in terms of pic quality...
...but hopefully they can convey a bit of the truly magic atmosphere of the place - even with bad weather!

The first is the main Cathedral of Amalfi, followed by a distant view of the stunning Positano - which imho is even better than Amalfi, in some ways.
And the third is one of the many hotels along the road, with their blissful seafront views.

If anyone thinks to have driven along some panoramic roads but not this one, trust me: you ain't seen nothing yet.
A word of warning, though: by all means, go there off season.
The drive is already demanding enough with low traffic, and it's bound to be a nightmare in the peak of the summer...!

Btw, the Marina d'Arechi location is fantastic for visiting the area.
With the whole Sorrentine Peninsula clearly visible in the NW background, Amalfi at 10nm and Capri at 25 or so.
And last but not least, heading S, the Cilentan Coast is also within easy reach.
Less well known than the Amalfi Coast, but also utterly beautiful.
Worth mentioning what Murat (a French General which Napoleon nominated King of Naples) said about it: Ici, on ne meurt pas... :encouragement:

Ahh, looks familiar. Had a nice break on a cafe on the side of the piazza. We visited the place in driving rain (it was early March), but even so it was stunning. And the drive along the coast was as you say, breathtaking.

Talking of scenic roads, the one to Anacapri is also quite impressive. We went to Capri with a car (a bit silly, but it was more convenient than finding a place to park in Naples) and drove up there. At one point the road goes on a concrete ledge on the vertical side of the cliff with only modest concrete bollards separating you from the drop of several hundred feet into the sea. It was very scary but also very beautiful.

All in all, the whole area is amazingly beautiful. We ended up coming back the following year. Torna a Sorriento and all that...

combined with some time around Sicily,
but have not done any detailed planning yet,
We might choose Marina d'Arechi as homeport for a few weeks..
will make a new thread when we start with the planning

Interesting to hear that, B.
There's a chance that we might come to PM early next summer, along a delivery trip to CF.
And if so, it would be a great opportunity to join you at least for the part up to Sicily.
There are still some balls in the air, though. Will keep in touch...! :encouragement:

Interesting comment P, moving in to closing a deal? Been wondering how any potentially new acquisitions have been going.

Apparently, the boats we like are either owned by folks I'd rather not deal with, or others who aren't so sure to sell... :rolleyes:
ATM, I'm dealing with the latter, and that's the boat I was thinking of, in my reply to BartW.
Time will tell, I'm not holding my breath yet! :)
 
LOL, no worries, my own pronunciation might be a bit better, but that's it.
As a singer, I'm sure you couldn't be worse than myself! :D

BTW... I really like the very atmospheric photos, which shows that even in not so great weather the place is fabulous! And yes, in high season the corniche road is carnage... but hey, who cares... (as this song goes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avaSdC0QOUM ) I am on a mother****ing boat :encouragement:

Well if you do come to the Marina d'Arechi, I hope you will liaise with us, so we can hopefully all meet up!:eagerness: And of course, you should absolutely mention my name as your friend... since i practically ''own'' the place now :playful:
